^^Enjoying a 5 euro bottle of Chianti from our adorable AirBnB in Florence
Ciao from Italy!
Last night we arrived in Florence around 6pm Italy time. By the time we got to our apartment, we were as exhausted as we were hungry. Note: We were pretty freakin’ exhausted. Anyways, we showered up and headed over the arno in search of pasta and vino (obvi!)
After trying out my best Buonasera (good evening) on the waitstaff, I was instantly greeted with a menu in English. LOL apparently our Italian was pretty bad. We shared a bottle of wine from Montalpucino (a local medieval village), some delicious pasta, and caprese. Afterwards we stumbled home – from a combo of jet lag exhaustion, wine, and cobblestone streets – and passed out from 11:30PM until 2pm Italy time.
Oops! Jet lag is serious business!
This morning (errr afternoon) we headed out for panini and espresso and did a brief tour of the Duomo. We also hiked up to the Piazza Michelangelo, and then enjoyed pizza a dinner of pizza and aperol Spritzes!
I’ll try to keep the details to the minimum, but here’s a photo diary of sorts of our first day in Florence! I’m going to try my hardest to do a daily blog post while in Italy so our friends and family can stay up to date on our travels!
