I’ve always been a fan of all black ensembles, but even more so now that my body is going through some serious changes (aka growing a child.) I’m not going to lie, I’m currently in that awkward stage where strangers can’t tell I’m pregnant (it just sort of looks like I’ve been consuming too many milkshakes, which coincidentally would not be incorrect lol), and while some days that bothers me, I’m trying to be positive and focus on the reason for those changes. After all, growing a human takes work (and extra calories lol.)
In keeping with that, I imagine you will probably see a lot of all black looks on the blog while I’m pregnant. While part of me wants to hole up and not do anymore outfit posts for the next 5 or so months, I know it will be helpful for some to have a source to gather affordable maternity outfit inspiration from. After all, I am doing a lot of leg work to find the best/most affordable/cutest maternity clothes!
I’ve always liked wearing black for its slimming nature, but even more so because it’s a color that I feel looks good on me. I have a few black pieces in my closet that I always turn to when I want to feel confident… a fitted black dress from Walmart of all places, a loose black blazer, and my go to black skinnies (which sadly don’t fit at the current moment.)
This black off shoulder top from Romwe is perfect for my growing bump, and it doesn’t hurt that it was only $13.00! The maternity jeans were a recent Target buy, and they have all the things I’m looking for in a pair of denim right now… affordable, comfortable, and slimming. The choker necklace was a gift from the ladies at Born2Dress. I’ve blogged about them in this post, and they have a perfect mix of adorable on trend clothes (just check them out on Instagram here for inspo!)
