Back with another athleisure look today (I posted another one here.) But seriously, I love this whole trend (or movement?? I hate to say trend because that means it’s fleeting, and this is something I hope is here to stay) that’s happening. I’ve always felt like my day to day weekend style was pretty lacking… I’ll dress up cute on weekend nights, but daytime dressing is often whatever workout pants are clean, my hot pink nikes, and a t-shirt. Not that the whole athleisure thing is profound or anything, but I’ve definitely been putting a bit more thought into my casual weekend morning outfits lately. I also read a quote by Alexander Wang recently that stuck with me that says… “the way you dress on your off days is the true determination of style.” And I think that’s true in many ways.
I love this look here! Besides the fact that I just got new kicks (more on that later) this is seriously the type of thing I’ve been wanting to wear constantly. It’s also the perfect thing to take you straight from the gym to brunch (which is something I think I about now that I’m working out!) Especially since there’s a cute coffee shop across the street from my gym!
In terms of making athleisure look chic instead of sloppy, stick to a color theme and throw on a denim jacket or a faux leather jacket for an element of contrast. Leather leggings also help by adding texture. You should also stick to the rule of one baggy item to one fitted item and vice versa. Basically just don’t look like a complete hobo, and on the other end, try not to look like a stripper.
So about the shoes… I recently saw my cool photog pal Kymberlee (the awesome one who’s been taking my pics lately) wearing these shoes and instantly new I had to have them. Side note, Kymberlee is one of those people that has really good style on her off days. You know the type, they don’t necessarily dress up, but they always just look cool. Anyways, I found the shoes at Rack Room in Augusta, but I also linked to them above. They are a cheaper alternative to Nike Roche runs (which run for $150.00 and up!) but these are $60.00 freaking dollars and have that cool retro vibe. They are also extremely comfortable and pretty much haven’t left my feet in the past week.
HAPPY FRIDAY PEEPS!
